TDC-THE DUSTYBEAR CHRONICLES  BEAR TAKES A CHANCE... CHAPTER 73 ****************************** "There was a big old tree, actually LOTS of them, all round us. They kind of encircled the shack and the large open area where BOTH  the shaft and the shack were. and Rico steered me over to one of them. ... ******************************************* He got me down on the ground  at the base of the tree... "Ok..Baby. You just sit heah while Hoodlum goes  and scopes out dah building. Ok?" "WHY? I can...." "Bear...JUST sit...ok?" GRRR... "NO GROWLIES.... I be right back..." and with a kiss on the cheek... he stood back up and scampered off... well..scampered might be pushing it... I had noticed he was limping... and the wound in his side was also obviously bothering him... and our little escapey escapade..probably hadn't helped... I had noticed some of what looked like FRESH blood... but he wouldn't let me see... dadratted pesky MACHO bullpucky.. NO...MAH HERO...wath gonna take care of hith Bear.. it would appear... Good griefus... but..mah head was hurting... and..in a way..I was kinda glad to be just sitting  for a minute... it HAD been QUITE the little endeavour... getting up out of that mine... I sat... and watched as Rico got to the building... it looked Desolate... I saw him go...carefully...up to the door.... He tried it.... DRAT...locked... I could see that there was a window right next to the door... and although even from here I could see how grimy it looked... but Rico peered in... and then...he tried it... and VOILA....lol... GO FIGGER..... Lock the door..and leave the window open... "GOLDILOCKS ..what WERE ya thinkin' girl>?" He reached in through the window..and reaching over.. unlocked the door... DAS MAH BOI......lol... and he went inside... I sat... The sun was getting lower and lower... and NOW... I noticed what looked like thunderclouds... looming in the distance.. O GOOD...a STORMIE... JUST what we need... grrr.. I sat for a few minutes... and then I decided to commit mah FIRST OFFICIAL ACT of RANK DISOBEDIENCE... ok...maybe NOT the FIRST.... ALL RIGHT>..#3,472...lol... and I started getting up...JUST as mah hoodlum reappeared... grrr... I wonder what the charge for insubordination ith... "C'MERE BEAR" "RIGHT AWAY SUH..." "BEAR...." "YES?" "You're CUTE" "ADORABLE" "THAT TOO" Ok..by this time I had gotten over to him standing  on the steps... "We in luck....sorta..." He grinned at me...sorta... "SORTA?" "WELL...yeh... dah place has electricity stuffies..." "YEH?" "YEP.. and running water" WHOO HOO.... "YEH?" I asked, grinning? "YEP..." "HOT WATER BOO>?" "HOT water" "WHOO HOO" I was almost estatic... "YETH..." He stood grinning.... "HEHEHE..means SHOWER" I STOOD GRINNING.... "YETHY..MEANS WATER PRESERVING SHOWER" and he grinned from EAR TO EAR...the twit... hehehehe... "YOU SCAMP... and JUST HOW did you ARRANGE ...DAT?>" "Hoodlum hath hith ways..Bear.." "YETHY..>HE SURELY DOTH.. A VIRTUAL MIRACLE WORKIN' HOODLUMMY..." and AH..boys and girls..got KISSIED..AGIN.. awww shucks.. Otay...we stood there... on the, and I laugh heah, FRONT PORCH...until I finally said... "UH..." "WHAT?" "UH..CAN.. I SEE?" "C'mon Bear.....silly doofus... " and he turned...and walked through the door... and I followed... into... what HAD to be.. one of the GRIMIEST rooms ah hath EVAH seen... and also...one of the MOST WELCOME "WHOO....needs a REALLY GOOD CLEANING" "BEAR..>WE AIN'T TAKIN' UP RESIDENCE" "UH....temporarily...I HOPE" "WELL....yeh...I guessy..but VEDDY temporarily I HOPE" AGREED....... but...at least for tonight..DIS wath HOMEY HOT SHOWER... "OH..and Bear..dere ith FOOD too" "WEELY?" Ah wath INCREDULOUS.... "YETHY...canned stuffies..." "Stove works?" Hell, I'll eat it out of the can, I thought... UNOPENED...lol... "I'll find out..." and he did..and IT did... FOOD...god... "I bet YOU are STARVING...." I grinned to him.. "UH...yeh...." "UH...yeh?... my GOD..honey.. way YOU eat..." "STOP... Ah got othah things on mah mind..Bear... like......" "LIKE?" I queried... "LIKE>..getting ... THE REST OF DAH WAY..OUTTA HEAH" "THERE ITH THAT" "YEPPERS....dere ITH dat...." ************************************************************* But..for now..we would have to make the best of it... and we did.. WE took a LONG HOT shower...TOGETHER... saving watah you know... and it felt..SO good... in more ways than..... and I finally...got to go over his wound... nasty looking...and when I touched he winced... "Aww..Rico" "Ith OK..Bear..don' hurt too bad" and he stood behind me...pressed tight... soaping gently...the area where I had rubbed against the earthen wall... "AWWW Baby Bear...you scratched up pretty good..." and he kissed it...tenderly...soft kisses... and he washed it SO gently...and kissed it... and kissed my neck... over and over... slow....VEDDY slowly... He was SO gentle... SOO....tender.... His long strong arms... just encircling me... holding me... tenderly... lovingly.... while the hot water cascaded down over us both... as we stood there.... almost enraptured..... And, I was suddenly oblivious... of our circumstances, of our surroundings.. of our PLIGHT... SUDDENLY, ALL I was aware of was Rico... and his loving... ME..... go figure... but THAT was VERY obvious.... in SO MANY ways... and if I hadn't known before that I loved him.. I sure did now... and then, after we got done... we came back out into the main room... and HE MADE ME..sit..on the.... UHHH... couch... lol.... Sofa..... Whatevah... while HE scrounged up dinnah... Rico wouldn't let me do NUFFIN...the wascal... HE washed up some dishes and pots and pans as best he could... and..opened a few cans of 'DIS and 'DAT' but it was a FEAST..far as I was concerned... and all made with Rico's loving hands... and it all tasted SCRUMPTIOUS... and I told him so.. and he blushed... and I smiled... and we.....hehee... got all kithyfathe again... WHAT mineshaft... WHAT bad perthuns... lol... and afterward, we did the dishes.>TOGETHER... and... then.. "Well...Honey..what you wanna do tonight? LITTLE TELEVISION?" "SMARTALEKY BEAR, YOU ITH... youse know dat?" hehehe... but then I noticed...something over in the corner... a blanket had been thrown over it... and I, being the curious sort.....hehehe and BY GOD..there it was... a 25 incher Color jobbie, too... WIF REMOTE.... "GEEZ BEAR" HEHEHE.. "TURN IT ON...maybe it don't work Bearski" But, I did.. after I plugged it in.... and IT did... WHOO HOO... "WAIT....TV... maybe there ith PHONEY......" "Nah...Bear...I looked... You think I wouldn't have CALLED THE MILITA in by now?" "DRAT" "YEH..I figger..they probably used CELL'S when dey heah" sigh... "Yeh..prolly" "Tomorrow Bear...I try to hike out of here... look around moah...do SUMFIN... maybe moah houses or sumfin nearby... highway...SUMFIN" "YEH...GOTS 2 be...GOTS 2 be" "C'mere Bear..." and he got me snuggled on the couch... and he held me tight, the television droning across the room... and he leaned into mah earsie.. and whispered....softly.... "I LUFS yah Bear..." AND THAT...is...the...  last thing I remember... The 'ESCAPE'... the hot shower... the food... after what we had been through... had ALL taken its toll... and....I guess I just went out like the proverbial light... ********************************************************* "I love you too...Hoodlum Wif ALL mah heart..." I don't know whether I said that.. or dreamed it.. but...I KNEW...that WAS... DEEPLY IMBEDDED.... in my heart... SIGH.... SO MUCH had happened.. MOST of which I was still clueless about... but I KNEW..>DEEP INSIDE...that a LOT..HAD transpired... and.... I guess...this... The love... had been coming on for a long time.. Bear had been just too stupid to realize it.. and I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHY... But..NOW... I wasn't thinking about my life before... before.... before...THIS... not the bookstore.. not my LIFE... NUFFIN... just NOW...it's all I knew... And, I also was aware... there were BLANKS... BIG BLANKS... in mah memory banks... and I....didn't quite know why... or what to do about it... ALL I KNEW>...was.. WE were here... Rico and I... and we were in love.. as STUPID as that sounds..I suppose... it's all I knew...about now.. I didn't remember Chance.. or how we got here.. or anything about what had happened... and everything was happening so fast... sigh... and I slept... and slept... and dreamed.... about.... Rico.... of course... But..... as I look back, I remember.... There were images... OTHER things... and people... and places.... They SEEMED familiar... and yet... they didn't... I KNEW I SHOULD KNOW... but... sigh.. I didn't... and I slept.. and dreamed.. and didn't understand any of it... and Rico...held me... in his arms...TIGHT>.. all night.. and cried...softly.... FOR ME... and I sensed that somehow... and loved him even more... ************************************************************** FOR..RIGHT NOW...>HE WAS ALL I HAD... AND...
